  •     There are a variety of text types - narrative, expository, and poetic.
  •      A text conveys information about individuals, events or ideas.
  •      By analyzing details of a text one fully perceives the key information the author expresses.
  •     There are many strategies to use to understand the meaning of words and phrases.
Essential Questions:
  •     What type of text is this? What type of  information will be derived from the reading?
  •      What message is the author trying to portray?
  •      Who is the main character? What’s the setting and the plot of the story?
  •     What strategies can we use to understand the text fully?
Students will know…
  •      How to read a variety of text types and comprehend the full idea being expressed.
  •     To look for clues to understand new words or concepts; like root words, and context clues.
Students will be able to…
  •     Analyze how key individuals, events, or ideas are developed throughout a text.
  •     Use a variety of strategies to determine word meaning in informational texts.
