    Hi Chaya! I enjoyed watching your Backward Design Stage 2 presentation. It is really clear, and you provide excellent examples. I love the idea of teachers having mini conferences with their students; it allows them to conduct frequent assessments. Thanks for sharing!

    Chaya, you did a super job on your presentation! You chose great assessments to determine your students knowledge. Using a KWL chart is an excellent way to activate their knowledge .

Week 2 Assignment 3 - Backward Design

Grant Wiggins’ explanation on Backward Design is enlightening. It provides educators with the vital method to be used when designing their lessons. Backward Design emphases on the teacher to first have a performance goal for the students to accomplish, and only then work with the curriculum to reach that objective. The goal should be an actual life skill they’ll be able to utilize in their real life, and not the knowledge they will attain from the lesson. Teachers need to provide the student with the right combination of tools for them to explore the new concept independently. Educators should remain goal oriented throughout their teaching, and make sure that every activity, motivation, and lesson really brings them a step closer to their objective and enables their students to fully master this new concept.
